See what's new with Afghan Rural Schools

Dear Reader,

Afghan Rural Schools is a non-profit 501c3 organization supporting three rural schools, one for girls and two for boys, in Khas Kunar, Kunar, Afghanistan. 

ARS has already provided electricity to the three schools and office of the Director of Education in the district. Our next project was to build classrooms for 700 students some of who, due to lack of enough space, are currently studying under a tent. 

A few years ago, Dr. Abdul Qayum Safi, founder and president of ARS, thought about helping those less fortunate left back in his childhood community in Afghanistan and established this organization. He has donated all the proceeds from the sales of his book entitled, One Life: An Afghan Remembers, to this organization.

Dr. Safi travelled to the area in May 2024 and visited the girls' high school. The campus area is too small for the number of students studying there and located in a marshy area near the local river which gets flooded in the rainy season. Our next project is to enlarge the campus, drain the marshy area and build a barrier wall to prevent the flood water from entering the school and causing damage.

ARS has enough money in its account to pay for draining the marshy area and building a barrier wall. However, we need your help for buying more land to expand the campus and build some facilities for the use of students and staff at the school.
